Interviews are always very challenging be it the first time or not.  There is only one way to reduce this tension and that is “to be prepared”. Give time to review the important and frequent questions. Not only for the standard questions but also review their answers.

Give some time researching company profile, its management, establishment which definitely adds to your knowledge and confidence as well. Be prepared to tell your previous experience in terms of your designation and company name. Review your resume well and discuss thoroughly about your previous company without fumbling.
There are some important guidelines for how to answer job interview questions; they will definitely lead to a successful interview:

* Tell me something about yourself?
This is a typical opening question in an interview, be careful and specific. Try to complete the introduction in a short period as possible; you will have to cover four important topics: early years, education, work history and recent career experience. Don’t waste you important points here.

* What do you know about our organization?
This is one of the important questions which will show your awareness. You should be ready to discuss the products, services; revenues, reputation, image, goal, management style etc. Never portray as though you know everything and don’t overwhelm the interviewer. Take opportunity to show him that you are a keen learner and you want to search more.

* Why do you want to work with our company?
Such questions play a very important role in your selection but only if, you are prepared and you know how to answer job interview questions. The answer will be totally dependant upon your research, the sector in which the company is growing, whether it is research and development, finance, strong management, so you should give answer oriented to company requirement.

* What can you do for us that someone else can not?
Talk about your previous achievements, previous records of successful completion of things in time. Discuss about your skills, interest that you mentioned in resume and make yourself valuable in front of interviewer.

* What interests you in this position?
Here you will have to give two or three attractive aspects of the post mentioned, along with one or two minor negative points.

* Why should we hire you?
Give the answer regarding your ability, experience and energy, your keen learning skill etc.

* What are your expectations from this job?
Your answer for this question should be oriented to company opportunities and not personal security.

* How long would you like to stay with us?
Give a positive response that you want to work with this organization and achieve an indestructible position and want to continue so as to feel challenged to remain in any organization.

* What are your long range goals?
Again this answer should be company oriented, tell your goals such as they are relevant to the company progress as well.

* How successful you have been so for?
Say confidently that you are happy with the way your career has progressed so far, you did quiet well and you don’t have any objection about your past.

Good job interview questions are the most essential and important component of any job interview. You need to be very focused on the questions you ask. In addition to this you must get the desired answers from the questions you ask the candidate. First, you must make a good rapport with the candidate. You must ask these type of questions whenever they are necessary. From these questions, you can point out the candidate’s nature, skills and other capacities.

At the end of the interview, you must ask good questions from which you can assess the person’s ability whether he can work in your group or team. Some of the quality questions are as follows. Have you ever been fired or asked to quit from some company, what your last supervisor would say regarding your job performance, how you perform under pressure. Some times you can ask questions about future work like how you will motivate your colleagues, how you plan on for getting to higher positions in this company, how you will relate your work experience with the work you are given this company and so on.

The candidate should be prepared with his personal profile but while presenting it, it should not appear as a rehearsed activity.  While presenting the personal profile a candidate should mention his educational qualification, his family background and his achievements. If the achievement is in the relevant field for which the candidate has applied then it should be mentioned very clearly.  Answers should be precise and to the point.  While answering, the candidate should address everybody, make proper eye contact, should have proper body language and should always carry a pleasant smile on his face.   

The candidate should state that he has relevant qualification for the post for which he has applied, he is a team man and for him work is more important than money but it should not be overstated.  About why did he leave his previous job a candidate should be honest but should not allow the focus to shift in this direction. On being asked about the expected salary; the job-seeker should not make the first statement as he may end up losing if the employer was willing to pay more. How to Answer Ten More Tricky Questions you May be Asked in a Job Interview (Part 8 of 10)

Q70 – Are you willing to meet very high standards of performance? This question probes your attitude to see if you think you are an excellent performer. Very high standards sounds a little scary, but remember these terms are relative, and until you get on the job you may not even know how high they mean. You should answer yes to this question .

Q71 – Which are the best and worst bosses you have ever had & why? Here is more probing to determine if you get along well with your superiors. The best answer you can give here is that you’ve always gotten along with all your bosses and never really had a “bad” boss. Always be positive when answering this one as well as any questions about what you think for the companies where you have worked. Any negatives in this area can only hurt you.

Q72 – What is the most interesting and the least interesting work you have done? This is another question designed to probe into your preferences about work areas. A positive answer, as usual would be helpful.

Q73 – Have you ever had a job you really didn’t like? Another loaded question here and it should be handled with caution. If you didn’t like a particular job because it wasn’t stimulating, was boring, or didn’t bring out your real talents, you can mention these bur put a positive slant on it. Anything negative about the people involved in these jobs should be avoided.

Q74 – What did you do during the gap in employment between your last job and the one before? Interviewers pick up on any gaps in employment so be prepared for this one if you have any gaps.

Q75 – What is your Social Security Number? This will always be asked at some time, so should either have it memorized or have your card with you.

Q76 – How do you feel about working with minorities? Asking this question may be illegal, but you should in most cases answer that you try to avoid any prejudices and treat all people alike.

Q77 – Do you have references I can check? Be prepared with names, addresses & phone numbers on your references. You should always ask people for permission to use them as a reference before you do so.

Q78 – Do you have any direct work experience in this job area? Handle this question by outlining your accomplishments in specific areas related to the job you are seeking. Always use concrete examples where possible as these are more credible than generalities.

Q79 – How do you feel about working for a woman? Common sense should tell you the answer is that you have no qualms whatever.
